Exchange SU Security Update November 2023

The estimated reading time 1 minutes

One month after realesing Exchange October update Microsoft launched another SU for November. Some CVE are patched and a “new” Feature is activated.

Original blogpost can be found here.

SUs are available for the following specific versions of Exchange Server:

  • Exchange Server 2019 CU12 and CU13
  • Exchange Server 2016 CU23

The process of updating did not change during this year, so nothing special here. Only workarounds after applying updates increased.

With November Update so called PowerShell serialization payload is enabled by default. This feature could be enabled already manually with January Update 2023. See this article.

There is also an official Microsoft Learn article available. There is also a short section about November Update here.

NOTE: before installing the update, it’s recommended to check your Exchange Auth Certificate if it’s valid. This task can be done with this PowerShell script provided by Microsoft.https://aka.ms/MonitorExchangeAuthCertificate

If the shell says “green” update can be applied. After installing it’s also recommended to execute Exchange Health Checker to check your environment.

Happy updating
