M365 services also have a lifecycle for supported client software, there you can find some exciting entries. Originally Microsoft announced a roadmap where M365 supports all products under maintenance (mainstream support).
Office 2016 is one exception from this rule. It is not under mainstream support but still supported. See this.
October 2023 is not that far away, and the old Office versions are out of support for M365. What does that mean? Maybe there will be some connectivity issues, or some new features are not usable with this office version.
Of course it’s strongly recomended to use M365 apps for business / enterprise to have all features and functions reliable. So happy distribute M365 Apps.
